Which books to study for IIT JEE

This is one of the most frequently encountered problems for any student preparing for IIT JEE. You should realize that there are hundreds of very good books written already. Some of them are too good. Each one caters to a different style of reading and learning and is addressed to a different student set. Just like every shoe does not fit every foot, every book does not cater to every individual style of reading. There are ex IITians who have read one book and others who havent even touched the same book. Like for instance, in the team of Reflection one of us has never read HC Verma, not even touched it; while another who has read nothing other than HC Verma. So it is all very relative!

You should also realise that it is more important to know which books to not read! The most important ones are the Thick 2000 page books that have come into existance namely Pradeep, Dinesh, Comprehensive and others. The problem with these books is that they dont end. They deny you of all the inquizitiveness and present everything as cooked food which never lets you learn how to cook! So you have to be very careful when reading some of these. They are decent books if you can aim only as high as REC's. Even for AIEEE these books are not recommendable.

There are many many high quality books which are available quite easily in the market. Some of them we are listing down. Chose any of them that suits your style of reading. It is also important that you dont use 100 different books for theory. Take a book and stick with it. You can refer lot of books for problems

1) Resnick Halliday Walker (Theory)
2) Irodov
3) NCERT (Theory)
4) H C Verma
