IIT JEE Part Test 1...

Q63) Further 2 g of NaOH is added to the solution, then pH is
a) 7
b) 9
c) 5
d) 10
Q64) Comprehension for 64-66

A compound A, C7H15Br, forms a Grignard reagent with magnesium in anhydrous ether which can be hydrolyzed by water and acid to give an optically active alkane C7H16. A when reacted with aqueous sodium hydroxide B(C7H16O) is formed, which is heated with copper metal to form C(C7H14O). C gives negative Fehling's test and a negative Tollen's test, but a positive iodoform test.

How many isomers of A satisfy these reactions
a) 0
b) 1
c) 2
d) 3
Q65) How many optically isomers possible for the alkane formed?
a) 1
b) 2
c) 3
d) 4
Q66) Which one of the following is one of the isomer of the product B?
a) heptan-2-ol
b) 2-methylhexan-2-ol
c) 3-methylhexan-2-ol
d) 2-methyl-hexanol
Q67) Comprehension for 67-69

A white substance A reacts with dilute H2SO4 to produce a colourless gas B and a colourless solution C. The reaction between B and acidified K2Cr2O7 solution produces a green solution and a slightly coloured precipitate D. D burns in air to to produce a gas E which reacts with B to yield D and a colourless liquid. Anhydrous copper sulphate is turned blue on addition of this colourless liquid. Addition of aqueous NH3 or NaOH to C produces first a precipitate, which dissolves in excess of the respective reagent to produce a clear solution in each case.

B is
a) CO2
b) SO2
c) H2S
d) N2
Q68) A is
a) MnS
b) CdS
c) NiS
d) ZnS
Q69) E is
a) H2S
b) SO2
c) CO2
d) O2
